Fatih Sultan Mehmed (VIP Tablo)
FATİH SULTAN MEHMED: Turkish Emperor Mehmed II was born on March 30, 1432 and died on May 3, 1481, the seventh sultan of the Ottoman Empire. His name appears as Muhammed in historical sources. He first reigned for a short period between 1444-46, and then for 30 years from 1451 until his death in 1481. Mehmed II conquered Istanbul at the age of 21, ending the 1000-year Byzantine Empire, and this event is accepted by many historians as the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the New Age. After the conquest, he was known as "Ebû'l-Feth", meaning "Father of the Conquest" in Ottoman Turkish, and later as "Era-Opening Ruler" and "Kayser-i Rûm". Fatih is considered a "hero" in Turkey and a large part of the Islamic world today because he was the recipient of a hadith from the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad.
