Griffons; the mixed creatures encountered in Mesopotamian arts since the BC 3rd millennium, came into being when the gods were seen as human beings. They are shown in a supernatural way to emphasize their divinity. They are formed by the combination of the most powerful animals of the earth and sky and have unbearable power. These mixed creatures; It has a lion's body with or without wings, a large bird head, usually an eagle. Besides good qualities such as feared, respected, noble, alert, fast, strong and loyal; there are also negative features such as sinful, predatory, harsh, savage, voracious and grim. Living like other mixed animals, raising children and dying, Griffon can fly like a bird with its wings and walk with all four legs. The homeland of the Griffin is Mesopotamia, but it takes an important place in the religious depictions of the Cretan, Mycenae, Greek decorative arts, Egypt, Iran, Anatolia and Syria.
